Welcome to the Portland Balintawak Official Site

Portland Balintawak is a proud member of the International Balintawak Organization headed by Grandmaster Bobby Taboada.

Portland Balintawak was the first and currently only Taboada Balintawak organization in Oregon State and one of only a few schools dedicated to the Filipino martial art of Balintawak Eskrima in the Pacific Northwest. The original group consisted of just one student training under Mike Griffin wherever they could find space. By 2022 the group had produced 1 Full Qualified Instructor (FQI), and 4 Completion of the Art students (CoA).

Our mission: "To preserve and promote the art of Taboada Balintawak Eskrima, support the martial arts community, and be a positive example - advocating friendship and brotherhood."

Big News!

On January 3rd, Portland Balintawak officially opens our first permanent location and will be accepting new students! To celebrate our grand opening, we will be offering a New Student Foundations package and hosting a special class on Saturday January 3rd.
